Personal Reflections
Placed Here for His Purpose
Based on Romans 8:28
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
Oswald Chambers says that we’re “here” for a reason. “Here” simply means in whatever place, at whatever time, around whichever people, in whatever challenges or circumstances. His point is that we are God’s instrument, introduced into “here” to be the intercessory prayer agent. So, if God works for good for those who love him and are called by him, then we are put into certain places because that ordained outcome is needed “here.”
It’s so easy to wonder, why am I here? Not, why am I on this planet or in this life? But, why am I at this place in my life? Especially if “here” is uncomfortable or the circumstances are not friendly or it seems unfair personally.
God didn’t design us or the world for fairness. We were designed for righteousness, a quality we can never attain on this side of heaven. But we can be an instrument of God’s will in whatever circumstances we find ourselves in. God is working for the good. He chooses to place us where good is needed. It is a humbling and awesome responsibility, to see where good is needed and pray for its result.
