Personal Reflections
Love Lived Out
Based on Romans 12:9–21
John MacArthur, “The intent of this epistle was to call believers to live a certain way. The first 11 chapters were simply the foundation for that way of living. Begin to live like this…”
A. L. Huxley, British novelist and critic, "It doesn't take much of a man to be a Christian--it just takes all of him.”
Henry Drummond, Scottish pastor and friend of D. L. Moody, "The entrance fee to God's Kingdom is nothing; the annual dues are everything. "
9 Be sincere (not phony or showy) with love
Hate evil, cling to all that is good
10 Be devoted to each other
Honor others above yourself
11 Stay on fire for God and serve him
12 When you need hope, find joy
When you suffer, be patient
Never stop praying
13 Take care of people in need
Welcome strangers and guests – my home is your home
14 When people put you down or do evil do you, bless them
15 When people celebrate, celebrate with them
When they are sad, join them in their sadness
16 Be an agent of peace in your world (put your finger in the water to stop the ripples)
Be humble, not proud, and befriend people below your station
Don’t think you’re better than everyone else. You’re saved because you were a sinner.
17 Let evil be its own enemy. It is not your job to do paybacks.
Keep yourself above reproach. Do the right thing.
18 Be a peacemaker, not a battler. In every situation that needs a peace agent, you are that person.
19 God handles justice for you, it is not your business
20 be the opposite of evil and oppose evil with kindness
21 don’t let evil consume you, instead consume evil with goodness.
