The story? A little boy possessed by a demon and a father desperately hoping that this man of Galilee can save him. The father isn’t sure of the abilities that Jesus has, but he has heard something of him.

What happens next is the culmination of the meeting.
" 'If you can'?" said Jesus. "Everything is possible for him who believes." Immediately the boy's father exclaimed, "I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!"
The father is honest. “I believe something, but I still have unbelief.” And he adds the words that breaks Jesus’ heart. “Help me with my unbelief.”

The Savior of the world has come to bring hope to the hopeless, help to the helpless, and one of the lost sheep who has none of what he brings and who needs all of what he promises is before him. “I do believe, but help me with overcome my unbelief.”

In that moment, in the intersection, the man, his son and those around them would be changed forever because of a father’s honesty before his Lord.
